Can I Tint Or Dye Human Hair Wigs?
Human hair wigs are becoming more and more popular. This is because these wigs not only look authentic, but they also look like your natural hair. By carefully choosing the right type of wig it’s possible to choose a wig which suits your natural hair. However, sometimes you might not be able to find quite the right color.
Coloring Wigs
It’s possible to color different types of wigs. However, the easiest types of wigs to color are those that are made with natural human hair. This is because the hair can be dyed in the same way as your natural hair.
Be careful when dying cheaply made wigs which are not woven. Some wigs are made by sticking the hair to the cap with glue. These are not suitable for dying because the dye can weaken the glue.
Washing the Wig
Before dying take the time to wash the hair using shampoo and then leaving it to completely dry. When it’s dry comb the wig to remove all tangles.
Mixing the Color
Now you need to buy a regular at home coloring kit. Mix the components together according to the instructions. Then section the hair using a comb and start applying the dye as you normally would. Follow the instructions included with your dye. Normally this means leaving the dye on for around 25 minutes, then washing it out and adding a shine conditioner shampoo.
After this is complete you then need to allow your wig to dry completely. Then it can be styled and worn as normal.
