Alopecia Totalis is when hair is lost from the whole head. Alopecia Areata is where hair is lost from patches on the head.

Alopecia Areata doesn’t necessarily cause permanent hair loss. Normally the hair loss will be temporary which means it is possible to re-grow the hair again if you understand the cause and solve it.
If you are losing any hair then you will need to discuss this with your doctor. Your doctor should be able to find a solution to the problem. You can also wear medical wigs to hide the hair loss to make it much less of an issue.
